Overcoming Educational and Health Barriers
In the remote regions of Ghana, where access to healthcare is limited, St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church School—supported by the Perfect Light Foundation—has become a beacon of hope. By combining education with primary healthcare, preventive medicine, clean water, nutrition, and spiritual support, the school is transforming lives. Beyond statistics, the real impact is seen in the personal stories of students, families, and staff whose lives have been changed through this holistic model of health and education.
Students with prior developmental delays or learning difficulties have also found success through the school’s multidisciplinary approach. Health checks identify issues such as vision problems or anemia, which often affect learning but go undiagnosed in under-resourced regions.
One girl, who struggled with reading, was discovered to have untreated refractive error. After receiving prescription glasses from a visiting ophthalmologist, her performance improved dramatically.
By supporting St. Mary and similar initiatives, we move closer to a future where every child has the right to education, healthcare, and a chance to thrive.
